Guide To The Best Zhongli Build: Playstyles, Weapons, And Artifacts

Morax, the Geo Archon, is known as Zhongli by the citizens of Liyue. He is a 5-star character renowned for his frugality, charm, and dark eyes. The first time players encounter Zhongli is in Archon Quest Chapter I: Farewell, Archaic Lord. Zhongli is included in the second part of the Genshin Impact 2.4 patch with Beidou, Xingqiu, and Yanfei. The gentry of Hermitage, the event banner of Morax, is accessible till February 15, 2022. If you’re searching for a refresher on how to play the Geo Archon or an easy-to-follow build, you’ve come to the right spot. This article explains how to play and build Zhongli in the simplest and most effective method imaginable.

Talents And Playstyles Breakdown

Zhongli Build

It is a recurring joke in Genshin Impact that players that run a constant shield-providing character, such as Zhongli, tend to forget how to avoid attacks in combat. So why is Azhdaha stamping his feet in rage? Oh, I was completely unaware.

Although Zhongli’s talents are very straightforward to comprehend, he may be played in various ways. For example, the Geo Archon may be used as a pure shielder to protect your characters and weaken the enemy’s resistance or as typical burst support that relies on petrification and burst damage.

Dominus Lapidis, Zhongli’s Elemental Skill, may be used by tapping or holding down. Either option creates a Geo construct pillar that causes DMG when tapped and deals DMG, and grants Zhongli a shield while held. The DMG absorbed by the shield is proportional to Zhongli’s Max HP. The shield decreases the opponents’ Elemental and Physical RES by 20%. The shield lasts for 20 seconds, regardless of whether it is held or tapped.

Planet Befall, the Geo Archon’s Elemental Burst, comes coming next. Zhongli launches a large meteor that delivers Geo DMG and petrifies opponents trapped in its path when used. The burst does high-scaling DMG and immobilizes enemies for up to four seconds. Well, it has a cooldown of 12 seconds and costs 40 Energy.

The dominance of Earth, one of Zhongli’s passive skills, is a highly beneficial ability that increases Archon’s DMG output. Using his passive ability, Zhongli may do additional DMG dependent on his Max HP. For example, his Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks deal 1.30 percent more DMG. In addition, his Skill and Burst DMG increased by 1.9% and 33% of his Max HP, respectively.

Typically, this is the best rotation for a Zhongli team composition:

1 – Use Zhongli’s Elemental Skill (E) to activate his shield and deal with Geo DMG.

2 – Use your Primary DPS to attack enemies.

3 – Return to Zhongli and activate his Elemental Burst (Q) when it is active.

4 – Return to DPS characters to finish off enemies.

5 – Repeat as needed.

Zhongli is an adaptable character that can fit into nearly any team composition that requires a shield. Let us now proceed to the next section of the Zhongli build essay and discuss his weapons.

Weapons

Since Zhongli may be played in several ways, his arsenal of weapons and artifacts is highly varied. If you intend to use Zhongli as a sub-DPS or burst support, the ideal weapon slot for him is the 5-star Staff of Homa. This polearm has a high Base ATK and an additional CRIT DMG effect. The weapon’s passive boosts the wielder’s HP and grants an ATK Bonus. This weapon was specifically designed for HP-scaling characters like Morax and Hu Tao.

However, you can use the following spears on Zhongli if you do not have this 5-star weapon: 4-star Deathmatch for its strong CRIT Rate and passive ATK buff, 4-star Favonius Lance for its Energy Recharge substat and passive that creates Energy, or 4-star Catch for its Energy Recharge substat and passive that boosts Elemental Burst DMG and CRIT Rate.

Artifacts

As discussed previously, you have several sets of artifacts you may equip on Zhongli, depending on his function on your team. For example, you may build a 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith if you wish to build a strong yet generic artifact set for Zhongli that focuses on his shields. A two-piece set of Tenacity boosts the wearer’s HP by 20%, while a four-piece set increases the ATK of all adjacent party members by 20% when an elemental skill strikes an enemy.

If you build Morax as burst support, you may use a four-piece Noblesse Oblige. Overall, this set boosts the user’s and allies’ Elemental Burst DMG and ATK. Alternately, choose a 2-piece Noblesse Oblige and a 2-piece Archaic Petra as a sub-DPS. Finally, if you’re playing Zhongli as a physical DPS, you may choose from various sets, including a 4-piece Pale Flame set, a 4-piece Gladiator set, or a 2-piece Bloodstained Chivalry set combined with a 2-piece Pale Flame set.

Here is what you should be aiming for in terms of primary statistics. First, choose HP Sands, Goblet, and Circlet if you’re focused on Zhongli as your shielder. Next, choose HP Sands, Geo DMG Bonus Goblet, and CRIT Rate/DMG Circlet for Zhongli’s burst support and sub-DPS. Finally, builders of Zhongli physical DPS need to acquire either HP or ATK Sands, a Physical DMG Bonus Goblet, and a CRIT Rate/DMG Circlet.

Substats:

1 – HP%

2 – CRIT Rate/ DMG

3 – ER

4 – ATK%

Again, if you’re focused on the power of Zhongli’s shield, prioritize increasing your HP% substats and your ATK% and CRIT substats if you’re focusing on other roles.

The Bottom Line:
